January Bucket List

Ah January! This month always starts out so shiny and new and winds up feeling cold and dark! Makes me want to just curl up under a blanket and binge-watch the month away! Is it just me?! 😉

So, I thought I’d put together a bucket list for the month to get some excitement for the cold days and something to look forward to when it gets dreary. I thought I’d share it with you! Here’s a fun list of things to do to make this January the best one yet!

Start a new Bible study/devotional.

Check out this post for some ideas for studies. Treat yourself to a yearlong devotional- Amazon has great deals on Kindle versions (sometimes for as low as .99 cents)!

Clean out some clutter.

Tackle that closet or junk drawer you’ve been meaning to get to. Getting rid of clutter creates a fresh start, less to eventually have to clean/organize, and creates some breathing room! Less physical clutter=less mental clutter!

Enjoy a winter activity with your family.

Ice skating, snowboarding, sledding?! Grab those puffy jackets and mittens and build a snowman or have a snowball fight. Since we don’t get snow at home, we’re hoping to visit the Palm Springs Tram and play in the snow!

Bake snowflake cookies.

I didn’t bake any sugar cookies this Christmas season so I’ve decided snowflake cookies are going to add some cheer to our month! 😉 You could also make snowball cookies or snowmen!

Start a jar to collect memories from the whole year.

I love this idea so much! Grab a mason jar and some scraps of paper and write down funny and memorable moments as they happen. At the end of the year you have a beautifully easy collection of blessings to look back on.

Take time for self care.

The holidays were busy, amirite?! Start out the year taking some time to recharge. Get a haircut or manicure. Or just spend some time taking in a coffee or a sunset.

Start that book you’ve been eyeing.

Grab that book that’s been on your shelf since forever and begin reading. Or purchase that book that’s been in your online cart (or that you’ve seen in the bookstore) for awhile now. Grab a warm drink and blanket, get cozy, and lose yourself in a good story!

Donate warm clothes to a homeless shelter.

Take those clothes from the closet you’ve decluttered and donate them. What better way to start out the new year than by blessing someone else?!

Make a new soup or your favorite comfort food.

Soup has been on rotation in our house since it’s gotten colder out. Make it easy and toss the ingredients in the crockpot! Or warm up the house and make some casseroles, your favorite comfort food, and bake some bread.

Choose your word for the year.

Or write down your resolutions and a plan of attack!

Participate in a prayer challenge for your husband/family.

Start out the year covering your husband and children in prayer!

Enjoy a cozy movie night at home.

Make hot chocolate, grab some blankets and get cozy in front of the TV! Don’t have to stop at just one night; make a day out of it or even a weekend! 😉 Watch that show you’ve been hearing about or start that family friendly movie the kids have been wanting to watch.

What’s something on your bucket list? I’d love to add it to my list!

Hope you have a wonderful month, friends!
