Currently – August

Happy August! Hope everyone is having a great month so far. It is back to school mode here as my oldest is starting Kindergarten in less than two weeks! It seems like I’m hyperaware of all of the back to school ads and deals and the school supplies in stores…It’s beginning a new phase for our family and it’s exciting but also a little bittersweet. The kids are just growing so quickly and this window of time that they are small is closing. It’s crazy how fast it really does go by!

It’s that time to link up with Anne from In Residence for the monthly Currently series. Here is what I am currently admiring, anticipating, enjoying, spending, and saving.

Admiring

The strength and dedication of the Olympians. We have mainly been watching track and field, gymnastics, swimming, and volleyball but man, I can’t even imagine the work and dedication it takes to be an Olympian! You know they’ve put in so much time and basically lived for these moments and it’s so exciting to see their dreams come true. I’m in awe of all of them!

Anticipating

My oldest starting Kindergarten! I have all the feels, friends! I’m hopeful and excited for him but nervous for him too. He’s never been in any kind of school setting (except for Sunday School) so I hope he adjusts, makes friends, and enjoys it! Any Back to School tips for this Mama?!

Enjoying

I started teaching Sunday School back in May and it’s made our schedule a little more hectic but it’s been so much fun! I love planning the lessons and finding games and crafts to go along with each one. We are trying to get the kiddos back in after having such a prolonged absence due to COVID. Some Sundays it’s just my two kiddos there! It’s been slow going but we are hopeful the group will grow.

Spending

Spending as much time as possible as a family. We’ve been trying to get out on the weekends and have some family fun together, but also trying to spend time during the week at the pool or playing board games, with Legos and “Army guys.” Other than family time I have been spending time reading, planning lessons, listening to podcasts, watching movies and trying to get more sleep!

Saving

It looks like our washer is on it’s last leg so saving to purchase a new one. I’ve spent a little too much this summer as well 🙈 so need to focus on cutting back on spending in general and saving more.

Thanks for reading, friends! Hope you all have a great month!

  1. Aw, I hope your son enjoys his kindergarten year. That is so exciting! Such a great list of all the things. Have a good weekend!

  2. I teach Junior Church….and can appreciate just how special the time with kiddos is each Sunday!! The planning (looking for games, crafts, etc) is as fun as the actual teaching!! Hope it is a wonderful year for your Kindergartener!!:)
