5 Powerful Truths to Start Your Day With

I have found it so, so helpful to start my day off with truth! It’s so easy to tell myself lies (“It’s a bad day.” “I have too much to do and can’t get it done.” “I’m alone; no one will help me,” etc.) but there is immense peace that comes along when I replace those lies with truth. I generally need a little talk with myself in the mornings and these five truths are what I speak.

1. God has made this new day with new mercy

Lamentations 3:22-23 “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Psalm 90:14 “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all of our days.”

Psalm 118:24 “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

2. God loves me and is for me

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Psalm 56:9 “Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me.”

3. God is with me

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.”

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

4. With God’s help I can get through whatever happens today

2 Corinthians 4:8-11 “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

5. God is my refuge and help

Psalm 91:2 “I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Isaiah 25:4 “You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.”
