8 Verses for When You Are Worried (& A Free Printable!)

My son just recently attended his first Vacation Bible School. Since he’s only 2, my husband and I tagged along. It was so sweet to see him enjoy himself 🙂 The theme for the day was “When we worry, Jesus rescues.” Let me tell you, my husband was giving me pointed looks all night. And I’ll admit it: I’m a worrier.

I’m an overthinker, so I tend to get, oh about twenty steps ahead of the situation. “What ifs” and “What happens then?” are my specialty. I get irritated with quick answers like, “It’ll be fine,” and “You’ll just have to see.” I want details! I want a Power Point with step by step actions to take for each and every scenario. But that’s not how life works…and that’s not how God works either.

During this pregnancy, I’ve especially had to work on leaving my worried thoughts with the Lord. There have been so many scary “Let’s just check on it” conversations with the doctors, tests that have had to be run again, multiple ultrasounds, and lots of precaution taken that it could easily overwhelm me (and it sometimes does). I’ve been learning to put all of these worries (and lots of others!) in the Lord’s hands.

If you’re a worrier (like me) or have something happening in your life that is causing worry, I hope you’ll find these verses comforting and helpful.

8 Verses For When You Are Worried

God is above any situation we are facing and we can call out to Him at any time.

“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Psalm 61:2

So many things we worry about never come true. So, let tomorrow worry about itself.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” Matthew 6:34

We don’t have to be afraid, because God is with us.

“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Psalm 118:6

God cares for us and we can give him all of our worries.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

Let your worries become prayers and release them to the Lord.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

Let fear lead to trust.

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3

Go to your Father with your worries so He can give your anxious heart rest.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Remember that no matter what, God has got you.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

  1. I’m a regular worrywart too and as Christians we shouldn’t be, it’s a daily struggle but Jesus is always there to listen and be there for us. These verses are good. Have a good day….. And stop worrying!!😋
