Wednesday Hodgepodge – Tickled Pink Edition

Hi friends! Happy Wednesday. Hope you’re all having a great week so far! Excited to link up again with Joyce at From This Side of the Pond for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1. What’s something that reminds you of your grandmother? Tell us why.

Tamales. For years, my Grandmother won Grand Prize at the Indio Tamale Festival for her tamales. People would wait hours in line to get her tamales because they were only available at this festival. Making the tamales was always a family affair and there were many days of talking and laughing and working together to create them. She had her own homemade sauce that made them stand out and they were so good! I will always be reminded of my Grandma when I see or eat tamales.

2. Is your life currently more ‘moonlight and roses‘ or a little more ‘every rose has it’s thorn’? Elaborate.

Honestly, it varies. I try to be positive and there have been a lot of fun things going on in my life (birthday celebrations, family gatherings, etc) but also I think I am more prone to seeing the thorns. I really have to make a real effort to see the roses among the thorns. That has been my prayer though- to have eyes wide open to the roses and enjoy them!

3. June 23rd is National Pink Day…favorite thing you own in any shade of pink? Favorite thing found in nature in any shade of pink? Your favorite pink food or beverage? Your favorite shade of pink?

Clothing: I actually don’t have any pink clothing. I need to change that! Nature: pink sunsets. Beverage: Mango Dragonfruit Refresher at Starbucks. Shade: rosey pink

4. Last thing that had you ‘tickled pink’?

My birthday. My family surprised me with a birthday dinner out and then the next day my husband and I left for a quick weekend getaway. We went to the beach, ate great food, saw a movie in the theater, and just relaxed.

5. What are two or three words that describe your style.

Comfy, cozy, and simple.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Have a great rest of the week, friends!

    1. Thanks Lisa! Yep that’s my Grandmother working the tamale booth at the festival! 🙂

  1. Knowing your grandma made tamales in Indio made me look for where you live–you attended San Diego Christian College–you’re a SoCal girl! I just moved from Ventura County across the country. Miss my SoCal weather! And miss my Mexican food!
I’m glad you had a good time at the beach for your birthday.

    1. My best friend lived in Ventura so I went there often to visit her! I live closer to Indio now so we get some crazy hot summers, but the winters are nice at least 🙂 Hope you have a great day Willow!

  2. My hubs loves a homemade tamale! Do you make them now too? Thanks for playing along in the HP this week. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. I haven’t made them by myself yet. We all still get together and try to make some around Christmastime. Hope you have a great weekend too!
