November Focus, Book Club, and Challenge

November Focus: Food and Faith

This month we are going on a culinary exploration of scripture! What better month to dive into what God has to say about food than the month of the biggest meal of the year – Thanksgiving?! If you love food and the Bible, you will love this dive into what God has to say about food. Perhaps God’s focus on food has more to do with satisfying our hearts than our bellies? Scripture tells us that we should “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8) but have we have ever truly thought of what that means? This month we’ll be taking that scripture literally as we journey together where food, God, and faith meet. Let’s dive in and explore God’s goodness together!

November Challenge: Try making one of the recipes in this month’s book choice

November Book: “Taste and See: Discovering God Among Butchers, Bakers, and Fresh Food Makers” by Margaret Feinberg

November Bonus: Psalm 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is Good” free printable

November Challenge:

“Taste and See” includes many recipes. This month the challenge is to try making one of these recipes. You might even want to savor the meal around the table with your loved ones!

November Book Club:

This month we are reading “Taste and See” by Margaret Feinberg. Margaret is an author, Bible teacher, speaker and podcast host. This month we will join her as she leads us through the caverns of a salt mine, wanders through a California farm, bakes fresh matzo, and visits a remote island in Croatia to harvest olives. Each time she asks how these bakers, butchers, and fresh food makers read scripture, not as theologians, but in light of what they do every day. Their answers will change the way we view and read these scriptures. I’m looking forward to going on this adventure with you as we explore where food and God meet!

TO DO:

*Purchase your copy of “Taste and See” by Margaret Feinberg as soon as possible so you can begin reading along.

*Join us back on the blog on Fridays for discussion questions. Week One’s questions will be posted on Friday, November 5th.

*Comment and share what your answers so we can all learn from one another!

Hope you’ll join in! Have a great November!
