Share Four Somethings – June 2021

Did this month fly by or what?! I feel like I say that every month but seriously June has gone by in a flash. This morning I found myself wondering how in the world the 4th of July is this weekend. June was a great month though and I’m linking up with Heather to share four somethings: something loved, read/said, treasured, and ahead.

Something Loved

I got a Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday and though I always said I would never switch to ebooks (I love everything about paper books!) I have to admit I love my Kindle. I’ve downloaded a ton of books, signed up for Kindle Unlimited during Prime Day (4 months free!), and it’s been awesome. I will never give up paper books but I’m totally loving being able to carry the Kindle with me and have a ton of books at my disposal.

Something Read/Said

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena – this was a good mystery/thriller about a couple who leaves their baby at home to go to a dinner party next door. When the baby is kidnapped, secrets about the couple come to light and keep you guessing.

All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda – my first book by Megan and it didn’t disappoint! Nic is brought back to her hometown to help her father. She’d left her hometown because of the mysterious disappearance of her best friend. Now that she’s back in town, another girl goes missing. It’s a mystery but uniquely told backwards which made me in awe of the author!

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty – another Liane book that I absolutely loved! Alice has an accident at the gym and when she wakes up she’s lost memory of the last ten years of her life. Everything is different – she and her new husband are now on the verge of divorce, she has three children, and she and her sister aren’t speaking. She has to reconstruct the last ten years and figure out what happened. It was an interesting plot and kept me wondering.

Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis – Honestly I picked this up because I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I can see why people are big fans of Rachel Hollis- she is motivating and encouraging. If you’re looking to run a marathon or start a business or just need a good reminder of possibility for your life, it’s a good read.

That Sounds Fun by Annie F. Downs – our book club read for June. It was classic Annie – funny, moving, and encouraging.

The Bright Side of Going Dark by Kelly Haas- this was a cute and moving story of three girls (a social media influencer, a socially awkward girl and her suicidal sister). Circumstances happen that make their lives collide and reevaluate their lives.

Something Treasured

  • My 40th birthday dinner – you guys, my sister surprised me with a dinner out on my birthday! I totally thought that we would just have a lowkey night (cake and ice cream) with the family but she planned this whole dinner at a restaurant, had balloons, and a beautiful cake. I had no idea – she just told me to dress nice and do my makeup lol It was super sweet and I felt so thankful to share the time with my siblings, parents, and my little family.
  • Weekend Getaway with my husband – two nights away with my favorite guy was the best gift! It was so refreshing and fun. We stayed in San Diego so we hit the beach and Balboa Park, ate some great barbeque, saw a movie in the theater, enjoyed a long dinner with live music and just got to reconnect and chat. There was no itinerary so it was just laid back and chill – so fun!

Something Ahead

  • Reading “I Give Up” by Laura Story next month in book club
  • Celebrating my sister’s birthday
  • My son is having a dental surgery
  • Weekend trip with the kiddos (still deciding what and when but hoping to do something special with the kids in July)

Thanks for reading, friends! Wishing you the best July! 🙂

  1. Ok, this is the second post I read about rave reviews of the kindle. I’m feeling bullied. LOL. So happy you and your husband were able to get away!
