Share Four Somethings – September

Another month that has gone by oh so quickly! September was a busy one and I’m hopping on to link up with Heather for the Share Four Somethings monthly recap. I enjoy these monthly recaps as it’s fun to look back on the month with eyes of gratitude thinking on something loved, something read/said, something treasured, and something ahead.

Something Loved

Hubby and I were able to have a quick date night thanks to my sweet sister babysitting the kiddos. We wanted to see a movie but there wasn’t anything we were really super excited to see and that worked with our time frame, so we decided to have dinner and walk downtown. We love Palm Springs and checking out the downtown area. We discovered new art sculptures and a whole section we had never explored before. We had so much fun. It was so nice to take our Mom and Dad hats off (for a few hours at least!).

Something Read/Said

It feels like I have had zero free time this month, with school underway and all of us being sick off and on all month, so I only got through two books. “Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins was a mystery/thriller. It’s told in multiple viewpoints and at first it was a little difficult to catch on to all of the characters, but at the end of the book it made sense why the author decided to write it this way and it was really satisfying. The second book I read was “All That’s Good” by Hannah Anderson in book club. It is such a timely and relevant book. Definitely got me thinking about what is truly good and how discernment is very necessary, especially in this day and age.

Something Treasured

Treasured a family day we had in San Diego. We wanted to get out of the heat (it was still triple digits here!) so we headed out early on a Saturday and started with an early lunch at a fun chicken place called The Crack Shack. The food was delicious and we loved the decor!

The kiddos spotted a pirate ship on the way to the beach so we stopped and took a tour of seven different boats. The kids had a blast! They were sooo excited and were making me laugh as they pretended to be pirates. We worked up a good sweat and were excited to head to the beach after.

We made it to the beach in late afternoon and the water was freezing! haha The kiddos jumped in the waves for a bit but it was too cold for this Mama! Chase made friends with another kiddo and they played water gun tag while Donovan played in the sand. It was a great way to close out summer 🙂

Something Ahead

Now, I’m looking forward to embracing Fall! I haven’t quite gotten into the Fall spirit yet but I’m hoping to! On our Fall fun list for now: decorating the house with our Fall decor, visiting the pumpkin patch, going apple picking, picking out Halloween costumes, and just enjoying the cozy Fall vibe!

Thanks for reading, friends! Wishing you a cozy and fun October!

  1. Taking off the mom/dad hats, even for a little bit, is fun! Glad you were able to have a date night. I have not heard of the two books that you read. Have a great October!

  2. Hi, I’m visiting from Share Four Somethings. Yay for date nights! They are so hard to do when you are in the midst of raising little ones, but they are so important. So, good for you guys that you are making that effort! I have not read that book by Hannah Anderson, but I’ve read 2 others of hers. And in 2017 (I think), she was the speaker at our church’s women’s retreat. I really like her!
    Blessings to you,

  3. Sounds like a fun September. We need to make more of an effort to get time away from the kids ourselves. Time just seems to fly now that school’s back in session.

  4. I’m glad you were able to get away for a date night, Jen. The book sounds good too. Good luck embracing fall … sounds like you have a good plan to do just that!
