Wednesday Hodgepodge – Back to School Edition

Happy Wednesday, friends! Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far. I’m joining in with Joyce from From This Side of the Pond for her Wednesday Hodgepodge. Excited to be joining back in for this fun mid-week Q&A!

1. Is school back in session where you live? Is everyone in person or does your system still offer a virtual option? Are kids wearing masks?

School started last week and my son started Kindergarten! He is in the classroom and wearing a mask. Due to COVID, I wasn’t able to walk him into his classroom which I was sad about. I hadn’t emotionally prepared to leave him with a staff member while he was crying 😢 All the students are given hand sanitizer at check in and have their temperatures checked before they head off to their classes. It’s a little surreal that this is the way it is right now.

2. Something you still do ‘old school’?

Keep a paper planner. I love planners and stickers and writing it all down. I’m a paper list maker and a paper ticket printer too!

3. One lesson you’ve learned in the ‘school of life’?

See the good.

4. When you were in school did you pack a lunch or buy a lunch? Your favorite thing to see on the lunch menu or inside your lunchbox back in the day?

When I was in school I ate the school lunch. Back then the school actually made meals from scratch! I remember the food being delicious – homemade rolls, baked desserts, and yummy entrees. But even with all the good food, pizza day was still my favorite 😜

5. August is National Family Fun Month. Tell me something fun you’ve done this month

This month we had a family fun day at the park where we rode the train, played on the playground, ate ice cream and saw all the animals at the zoo. It was our first time visiting this particular park and we had so much fun. We can’t wait to go back and are excited to visit when they have their pumpkin patch in October. And we will be celebrating this little guy’s birthday tomorrow so we are all looking forward to that too 🤗

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Thanks for reading! Have a great rest of your week!

  1. I wasn’t too happy about not being able to walk my daughter into class either, even though she’s in third. It’s so much easier to get the supplies dropped off that way.

  2. I love a good paper planner though I started using artful agenda on the computer and I love it. My heart goes out to parents and students. My girls are older and have been out of school for awhile.
