Verses on the Faithfulness of God + a Free Printable!

“But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” Psalm 86:15

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we’re all excited over here for some yummy food – turkey, pies, stuffing, green bean casserole – all those good things that make up this special dinner. During this time of year, I find myself thinking back on the year and all that has happened. I’ve spent too much of the year focused on junk – junk food, junk thinking, and junk words – instead of focusing on God and how faithful He has been. I think sometimes we treat God’s faithfulness like Thanksgiving dinner. It’s nice to feast on once a year. It’s nice to think about and celebrate but it doesn’t happen without a lot of thought. But, His faithfulness should be the diet we consist on. It should sustain us.

And it can.

The more I think about it, the more I find that a relief. It’s not a one time binge; it’s daily food for our soul! It’s finding strength because He is the one who is faithful and it’s all about Him. We know we’ll fail and our faith will not always be strong. But, that’s okay because it all rests on Him. And even when things are difficult or uncomfortable, we can rest in Him because He is faithful. It’s not just something that He does, but it is WHO HE IS.

I don’t know what is happening in your life, if this season is a difficult one or a happy one, but I do know that He is faithful in every season. His faithfulness is the sustenance that feeds and carries us. It is a sure thing and we can trust in it! If it’s difficult to focus on God’s faithfulness in your life, find time to feast on it! Saturate your life with His Word, listen to worship songs that praise Him for His faithfulness, start to look back on your life and where He was faithful in the past. Know that He will be faithful today and in the future.

Lord, we thank You for being a gracious God and we thank You for Your faithfulness to us. Help us to remember, even when we don’t understand why we’re going through difficult times, that You are always faithful. You can bring good out of any situation and You can redeem any situation. Help us to feed on Your faithfulness and not on junk. Bring a fresh revelation of Your faithfulness as we seek You and meditate on Your Word. Thank You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
